Project Overview

The Dr. Devang Mehta Auditorium (Bhageerath) revamp for Persistent Systems Limited in Pune represents a pinnacle of corporate digital transformation. SI reimagined this 380-capacity venue, shifting it from a legacy space into a futuristic multi-purpose digital hub. The centerpiece is a gargantuan 380-inch Samsung IE025A Active LED video wall featuring 16-bit processing for clinical visual precision. Powering the auditorium’s “nervous system” is a cutting-edge 40-node Crestron NVX AV-over-IP backbone, which treats every high-definition source as a routable network endpoint with zero perceptible latency. This visual grandeur is supported by a secondary 162-inch Logic LED wall and a sophisticated Sony 4K PTZ camera array equipped with intelligent auto-framing for global town halls. To complete the sensory experience, We engineered a unique triple-topology audio environment, integrating cinema surround, stereo line arrays, and LCR speakers to adapt seamlessly to any event format, from quarterly business reviews to live musical performances. This project sets a new benchmark for corporate communication in the APAC region.

What did the client want to achieve?

Persistent Systems required an architectural embodiment of their “Born in Pune, Re(AI)magining the World” identity. The primary objective was to replace a restrictive, aging setup with a high-impact, multi-functional digital stage. The client sought a “no-compromise” environment capable of delivering the surgical clarity needed for complex AI-driven data dashboards during global town halls. Versatility was paramount; the space needed to transition instantly between a cinematic theatre, a professional concert hall, and a high-stakes corporate boardroom without technical friction. Beyond local impact, the client demanded a seamless global communication interface, utilizing 4K broadcasting capabilities to engage remote participants with the same intensity as those in the room. Ultimately, they wanted a sustainable, future-ready asset that prioritized operational resilience and reflected their status as a global technology leader.

Scope of work your company was involved in

We delivered a comprehensive, end-to-end AV integration solution, spanning design, engineering, and deployment. The technical scope involved the structural mounting and calibration of a 3,000kg main Samsung LED wall and a secondary Logic LED display. We engineered the AV-over-IP networking architecture, deploying over 40 Crestron NVX encoders/decoders alongside Datapath processing for restriction-free windowing of up to 64 concurrent feeds. Our acoustic engineers designed and installed a hybrid audio ecosystem featuring JBL line arrays, subwoofers, and cinema surround speakers, managed via a Dante-integrated Soundcraft digital mixing console. The scope further included a 4K PTZ camera array with auto-framing, an integrated Crestron control system for one-touch automation, and professional podium solutions. Finally, we implemented a rigorous continuity and preventive maintenance strategy, utilizing APC switched PDUs for remote energy management to ensure the system’s long-term operational health.

What key challenges were faced?

The transformation of a legacy structure into a world-class digital hub presented formidable engineering hurdles. Structurally, the 3,000kg weight of the 380-inch Samsung LED wall required us to ensure the existing masonry could support an actual load that, per safety standards, demanded a support capacity of five times that weight. Architecturally, achieving the desired flush-mounted finish for such a massive display within a confined niche created a severe thermal management risk, as trapped heat threatened hardware longevity. Technically, integrating a high-density 40-node NVX network required navigating restrictive legacy conduits with a complex web of CAT6A and fiber links without causing signal interference. Academically, the room’s geometry posed an acoustic challenge; mixing three independent speaker topologies—cinema surround, performance line arrays, and LCR voice clarity speakers—required surgical precision to avoid destructive phase cancellation in a 380-seat space.

How were those challenges resolved?

To resolve the structural load, SI reinforced the masonry to exceed International Safety Standards, ensuring the wall could support the required 15,000 kg capacity. We mitigated the thermal risk by designing a specialized niche with an integrated active air-cooling ventilation system, allowing for a sleek architectural look without compromising hardware stability. Cable congestion was solved through meticulous conduit mapping and raceway design, as detailed in our AVP-03 floor plans, which ensured high-bandwidth signal integrity across the 40-node network. Acoustically, we utilized advanced section planning to calculate precise 15-degree horizontal mounting planes for the surround speakers, optimizing coverage and immersion. Finally, we eliminated operational complexity by centralizing the entire ecosystem into a Dante and AV-over-IP backbone, allowing the Soundcraft digital mixer and Crestron control processor to manage the sophisticated signal flow with one-touch efficiency.

How has your work helped the client?

Our integration has transformed the Bhageerath Auditorium into a mission-critical business engine that perfectly projects Persistent Systems’ global brand. By delivering unmatched visual clarity through the 380-inch LED canvas, the client can now present complex AI data with clinical precision to stakeholders worldwide. The high-density NVX network has eliminated the rigidity of old matrix systems, allowing them to host global town halls with zero-latency participation from remote offices. The hybrid audio design provides a “No-Compromise” venue, saving the client the cost of hiring external facilities for musical performances or cinematic events. Furthermore, the transition to intelligent PTZ cameras has professionalized their broadcasting, requiring fewer operators while providing broadcast-quality output. Our implementation of a preventive maintenance protocol has provided peace of mind, ensuring the facility remains a high-ROI asset with minimal downtime during critical corporate milestones.

What are you most proud of about the project?

We are most proud of the engineering audacity required to mount a 3-ton visual masterpiece and a 40-node digital nervous system within a legacy corporate structure. This project isn’t just about high-end hardware; it is about the seamless convergence of three distinct audio worlds and a massive networked routing environment into a single, user-friendly interface. Creating a venue that can switch from a high-energy live concert to a high-stakes global data dashboard at the touch of a button is a testament to our technical superiority. Additionally, we take immense pride in the operational resilience we have built into the project; through strategic continuity planning and energy monitoring, we have ensured that Persistent Systems’ global heartbeat remains strong and future-ready. This auditorium is now a lighthouse for corporate AV excellence in Pune, proving that “Born in Pune” can indeed “Re(AI)magine the World”.
